Down Ampney Parish Council Update May 2022

Airfield Quarry
The Airfield Quarry planning application has been subject to a request for further information, made by Gloucestershire County Council. This covered a range of points, arising from consultee responses to the initial submission.

The Environment Agency requested further modelling of the post restoration landform in relation to flood risk and this has taken several months due to both the extremely high precision that the models are developed to, but also the availability of suitably experienced flood modelers.

It is Hills intention to formally respond to the request from Gloucestershire in early June, and then Gloucestershire will undertake a period of public consultation on the further information. Following that it is hoped that the planning authority will move towards making a decision in the autumn.

Latton Quarry – Areas 6 & 1
A planning application was submitted to Wiltshire Council to extend the permission for Latton Quarry in April 2022. An extension until October 2031 has been sought. The extension has been necessary as working the quarry was significantly delayed by negotiations with Thames Water over the pipeline they had installed in the middle of the site without the landowner’s consent. The discussion with Thames Water on how to deal with this were only concluded in August 2021.

Additionally the Permit required to complete the restoration of the site took considerably longer to acquire than anticipated and the approval of the EA to the work done in creating a liner in the site was passed in March 2022.

Public consultation on that application had now ended and Hills will discuss the next steps with the Planning authority to ensure they have sufficient information to determine the application.
